In 1996, Bill became the first Honorary Orthopaedic Surgeon to Northampton Saints and continued this association until 2010 for 14 consecutive seasons. His work involved clinics, telephone calls with the medical team, attendance at matches (both home and abroad), post-match clinics for the assessment of new injuries and players in rehabilitation, and surgical interventions.

Bill remains involved with the junior clubs in the area and act in a voluntary capacity as Medical Officer at numerous junior games, particularly end of season finals. He is one of the Honorary Medical Officers for the East Midlands Rugby Union (2009-present) and attends Bedford Blues games.

He has acted as the Orthopaedic Surgeon for several England games at Twickenham, which has included on pitch work. He has also worked in a similar capacity at a number of England “A” games.

Bill has undertaken surgery on a number of the England Mens’ and Ladies’ Rugby Union team.
