Pilates aims to strengthen the body in an even way, with particular emphasis on core strength to improve general fitness and wellbeing. Pilates exercises are undertaken on a mat or using special equipment, such as the Reformer. It is excellent at providing controlled exercise to aid breathing, strength, stability and flexibility particularly of the back and abdominal muscles with emphasis on posture, balance, alignment and core strength as well as increase body awareness.
