COVID-19 LOCKDOWN INJURIES
During the spring and summer, both Bill and his physiotherapy colleagues have seen many patients with COVID-19 lockdown injuries. The need for exercise for both physical and mental wellbeing has never been more important than during these troubling times. However, less commuting and more home working has witnessed some patients embarking on enthusiastic and challenging exercise schedules which have resulted in injuries. Stress fractures and soft-tissue injuries (like ankle sprains and swollen tendons) have all increased in number in the last 6 months in our clinics. Please plan your exercise routines carefully. Where possible take advice from experienced coaches about schedules. Build in rest to allow you to recover and capitalise on your endeavours. Make sure that your diet is excellent. Do not exercise if you feel that you are experiencing viral symptoms and return to exercise afterwards slowly. Stay Safe.
