MON VENTOUX CONQUERED

Bill has completed a long held ambition to cycle up Mon Ventoux in Provence, southern France. With his friend and Orthopaedic colleague, Gordon Mackay, Bill completed two of the three possible ascents of the mountain. Despite visiting in late June, the weather conditions on the mountain proved challenging with high winds, rain and hail. The summit was closed shortly after Bill summited due to snow! Three weeks later the Tour de France stage, which was due to finish on the summit, was shortened to avoid the gales on the top of the mountain.
